WENDY WILLIAMS Essence Magazine May Cover Girl

My favorite cover

I was so excited when I received my May issue of ESSENCE magazine with our girl Wendy Williams on the cover. Trust me I am a big fan of hers. I watch her show everyday. I'm watching now and she just revealed one of the magazine covers to the audience. There are two beautiful covers to chose from. This issue is about friendships between women and you know Wendy is a friend in our heads. I'm happy that she was chosen to grace the cover.  It's on the newsstand now, go get it!

Just as pretty

I was disappointed when she was eliminated from "Dancing With The Stars" last night. I bet secretly she's happy it's over. Did you see the pictures of her feet, her very swollen feet? I felt so bad for her. I voted for her as much as I could. I only stopped when the recording said I was "DONE" and couldn't vote anymore. She has a lot going on lately. Watch out for her new show "Love Triangle" on the Game Show Network debuting April 18th. Good luck to ya!!!

My Pretty New Earrings

So pretty
I have a lot of earrings. Costume earrings and a lot of gold earrings too. Just recently I started buying big fashion earrings. You know the kind...real big and earthy. The kind you think only ethnic and natural hair women have in their stash. Well, really it's because I have shorter hair now and we all know short natural hair goes with big flashy earrings. I'll buy earrings at the drop of a hat. Especially pretty ones that are reasonably priced (which means cheap). Every time I looked at my earrings I noticed that I have too many dark (black and brown) colors and lots of brass earrings. So I started thinking about all the bright colors I needed to add to my collection. Spring is on the way and bright bold colors are exactly what I need.

Awhile ago I came across this tiny store in Manhattan that sold costume jewelry. I know there's many of them around the city. It's small but packed with a lot of nice things. I literally went crazy trying to be careful and not spend much money and still get everything I had to have.

The other day I was in midtown Manhattan. 23rd and 7th Ave to be exact. So I went to what is becoming my favorite store, Gem Story. Of course I was not disappointed at all. All the beautiful necklaces, rings and bracelets. They had a large selection of new earrings. I picked up 5 new pairs ranging from 3-5 dollars.
I took some pictures for you to see let me know how you like them or if you have ever been to Gem Story.

can you see the glitter?
these are so sexy
so 70's inspired
cute!!

Rihanna's Rolling Stones Cover

Are these shorts painted on??
Rihanna never ceases to amaze her fans and haters. I just like this young lady a lot. Just look at her Rolling Stones magazine cover. There are a couple of things I really admire about her. First her music of course. Second her classy and edgy style. She changes it up often and always gets it right.
I know you heard about the article and of course it's also just as sexy. She talks about Chris Brown and why she had the restaining order lifted. Yes, yes she talks about how she loves to be submissive during sex. I know you want to read the article, but until you do read a little about it here.

The Rebirth Of EbonyGirlSpeaks

I remember the day I wanted to start this blogging thing. It would be fun I thought, something to do in between tv shows. I had so much I wanted to say and learn along the way. I've said a few things and learnt so much more. Well, yea I still wanna blog my days away. Why? I just don't know. Sometimes, I feel I know a lot and then I know nothing at all. I like to share information and start intelligent debates about things that are important and interesting. Well, important and interesting to me that is. There is so much going on in the world today. Earthquakes, tsunamis, over throwing of governments, global warmingand crazy celebrities. Where would I begin? Am I offering something that will be a contribution to my family, my community, this planet? That's very important to me, to be able to share and receive good information. This is my rebirth. The beginning of a new me.

Another New Beginning Baby

I haven't made a New Years Resolution in years. I'm not trying to make one now either. It's a good thing to try and start anew, whenever there needs to be some change, of course. There's alot of things I admire about me and some things I really would love to work on. Well I figure at this stage in the game I'll just stop making the same mistakes, but then i'll just make new ones. Ones I will learn from and I won't even try to make major changes but just love me for me. Well "it's easier said than done" you say? Nah not really. I will make it easy. See my plan is just to take it all in stride. To remember that I have one life to live and live it for me and no one else. Well that's not really true because there are so many people in my life who I live for and could never not be there for them or have their best interest in mind.

There's more to the story but,all we ever really want to do is be happy. So I really would like to wish everyone a happy and prosperous New Year and to always remember if we don't get it right this year....we always have next year...

~WATCH THIS~Taking You Way Back~Michael Jackson Motown 25th Anniversary Performance

You can't deny this is one of the most electrifying performances ever. Michael continued to set himself apart from any other entertainer when he performed at Motown's 25Th Anniversary Show. We will never see another performer like him. Ne-yo and Usher are two artists that try and mimic his style. They try and dance like him. Listen to Ne-yos new CD " The Year Of The Gentleman" some of his new songs sound just like Michaels singing style. But nah they will never ever get it like Michael once had it. He was the man. Michael was music and music belonged to Michael. What the hell happened to him? Lord have mercy, well watch this performance and you will remember why we loved him and his music alot. ENJOY.......

FLY GIRL STYLE ~ Mary J Blige

MJB better known as THE QUEEN of HIP HOP SOUL, and she deserves it. Giving us great songs we love and can relate too. Mary has always been a fashion trendsetter. The blond hair was a bit much for me at first( I guess that's entertainment), now I love the look on her. She is definitely ghetto fabulous. Always looking good. She has changed her style over the years from the "round the way girl" and now she gives us nothing but glamour. Mary always looks great. Check out some of the hairdos she has worn over the years. Her hair-dos are what made us want to watch her even more. See the photos below and watch how she has changed to become the beautiful woman we see today.

~WATCH THIS~History In The Making

In exactly 3 days history will be made. You all had better get out and VOTE. Black folk especially. I am so excited. If Obama wins he will be the 1st black President of the USA and if McCain wins well we're just going to be in trouble. Well then Palin will become the 1st woman vice President of these United States. Whomever is victorious on Tuesday November 4Th, they will not be able to win without our votes. I think this presidential election, more than any other election is very important not only because Obama is seeking the highest job in the land, but because we need CHANGE and he's bringing it!!!!!.

So many people as we can see are not ready for change, let alone a black prez in the white house. It's inevitable he will be the next Chief Commander. So just embrace the change. I mean you have people plotting to kill him, saying he's anti-American, he's a Muslim, not a christian, hanging images of him from trees and the list goes on and on. WOW all this because he's black. STOP IT AMERICA HE IS GOING TO BE OUR NEXT PRESIDENT WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!.

I started this post because I think we all know that there will be some problems at some polling sites for sure. I hope whatever happens that folk don't get discouraged and leave. Cast that vote. Make sure you have the proper ID, don't wear any t-shirts or buttons with a candidates name on it within 50 feet of the polls. Before you go vote make sure you're registered and you can vote. Check out this site to see if you are a registered voter.

From Essence.Com:

Do Something Good For The Cure With Lean Cuisine

I've been a little busy but I wanted to post something I came across from Lean Cuisine.I know they have the food you love to eat, and now they have these beautiful insulated designer lunch bags to carry the food in. These bags are so pretty. Pink is fast becoming my favorite color. The bags sell for $9.95 and for each bag purchased,Lean Cuisine is donating $ 5.00 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. So far $304,335 has been donated.

While you're there to make your purchase, check out the site. There are some really nice things on the site for you. Articles on how to help lower your risk for breast cancer, and how weight can increase your risk for breast cancer. Of course there is a breast self exam, which most women should familiarize themselves with. You can even sign up for monthly self exam reminders. I really liked the Inspiration Path. On this path you can create a stone for someone you may know who has survived or someone who is battling the disease now. Maybe you don't know anyone and you just want to offer some kind words. I really think that the path is very special touch.

Just another way we can make a contribution to finding a cure and look cute doing it too!!!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month ~ Save Lids To Save Lives

I love yogurt, and I know you do too. Well if so here is a way we can help to continue the fight against breast cancer during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. When you shop pick up Yoplait Yogurt. They are having another annual drive with the campaign "save lids to save lives" and every lid you send in they will donate 10 cents to Susan G Komen for the Cure,up to $1.5 million. It seems like a fun way to help an important cause and to eat healthy at the same time. Yogurt has alot of health benefits, so this is good for everyone. I liked the site very much. I love the pink they choose or is that fuchsia? It's a very pretty page. Well anywhoo back to the site. There are desktop wallpapers, posters you can print, buddy icons and ecards to help get the word out.

You can join a team or start your own. There are 2 celebrity teams. Sheryl Crow heads up one of the teams. Get together with your family, friends, neighbors and co- workers and start eating up awhole lot of yogurt.

One thing truly inspiring are the videos of women who share their experiences with breast cancer. Survivors, women who have given all they can to beat breast cancer and not have breast cancer beat them. Make sure that you check out the site and definitely the videos.

OPI The world Leader In Professional Nail Care has dedicated a 2008 edition of a nail color for the cause called Pink of Hearts. $25,000 will be donated from the sales to Susan G Komen for the Cure. $5,000 will also be donated to Rethink Breast Cancer.

Payless ShoeSource will continue its Taking Steps to Fight Breast Cancer program by selling breast cancer awareness bracelets and limited-edition pink ribbon slippers. One hundred percent of the net profits* earned from the sale of the bracelet and $1.30 from the sale of each pair of slippers will be donated to Komen for the Cure with a minimum guaranteed donation of $100,000. The products will be available for purchase at all of their stores nationwide and on www.payless.com beginning September 25, 2008 and continuing through February 28, 2009.

We may not have millions or even thousands of dollars to donate, but companies are giving us ways to make a donation that counts toward a cause we all want to beat. So support some of your favorite companies and the products they have to offer and lets get breast cancer where it belongs; NOWHERE!!!

My Kick Off For Breast Cancer Awareness Month

I'm sure you know that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. So I want to post all this month anything that deals with breast cancer. I have already posted about a study for sisters where one has or had breast cancer.I hope you get the chance to read it. If you haven't then do so. Whatever information you find here pass it on to others. Remember knowledge is power.

There are so many websites you can visit that will help you get all the information you need. If you have just found out you have breast cancer, if you are battling breast cancer now, and for those who have survived breast cancer. I really hope that a cure will be found soon. So many women are losing their lives to this horrible disease.

Hopefully, in the next 31 days of October I will be able to help someone who just wants to seek information about this scary disease. Breast Cancer is hard on everyone especially the families. I have a friend whose sister died of breast cancer and I know she still hurts to this day. She and her family are in my prayers always. I know how much her family has changed because of it and because of it hopefully she will be able to help another person or family get through their fight with the strength and knowledge she has gained through her experience. Lord knows it was never easy.

So lets get out there, do what we can and spread the word about prevention. READ and SHARE what you know. Help someone who is going through her fight. Go with her to appointments, shop for her, cook for her, watch her kids for a couple of hours, tell her she can do it. Just be there for her. It's a long fight ahead but, WE together can beat this. I know we can!!!

This post is dedicated to a dear friend, Sherry whose older sister Margo Ifill lost her battle to breast cancer.
